Big South Fork with John Dean and Tanya, 2400
By Clay Wright

February 8, 2005

Just got in from BSF at 2400 – great level and a great
play day.
While ‘Double Drop’ gets the blood flowing, it was the play that was
the ‘All-star’ of the show . .with 4 loop spots (one just upstream
from these shots) and a nice wave for blunts, the Big South Fork is
like the Lower Gauley, only without the class 5’s.

We set out to meet Tom, from Jackson Kayaks production
team, but he decided to bring the whole family and enjoy some rappeling
in the sun, instead. So John Dean, Tanya Talbert and I had the river to
ourselves. Now I hear a lot about the ‘overcrowding’ of the rivers, but
I sure didn’t see it on this 50 degree Saturday on the BSF. We finally
ran into another group about 1/2 way down the narrows, and actually enjoyed
the extra company. Especially at the take-out. What’s the ‘parking lot
scene’ when you are the only car there? Great day, and I found this 2400
level to be a real winner. Can’t wait to see what the other levels are
like . . .
