Being in TN in the summer brings back so many memories – and so many of them are from paddling the Ocoee.

So I teamed up with Rock Creek to spend a day helping others enjoy this great Southeastern resource the best way I know how – playboating.

We started out with 15 participants, who all dutifully sat through my ‘intro’ speech at the dam then and waited their turn to get lectured at every stop on the river. We had a great time working our way slowly down from the boof at Whiteface to the spin spot North Shore to the rock 360 above Staging Eddy to loop attempts, cartwheels, and blunt work at Staging Eddy, which took us about 3 hours! As the day wore on, the group got progressively smaller – volunteers like Lauren Buress having other obligations and I have a sneaking suspicion some folks got tired of paddling back up eddies – or just tired. Regardless, those that hung in throughout the day got a 6 hour trip from the Dam to Go Forth and most everyone continued on towards Hell Hole where I met up with them in the afternoon.

Here are some shots, mainly from Hell Hole, and including many that just happened to be there.

Thanks to all that joined my Play Clinic and to all of you that showed up to help out along the way (Mike, Jonothan, Lauren, the Tom’s, Owen, etc) much obliged.
