Unexpected rain brings up Mill Creek, WV! by Will Richardson | Sep 11, 2007 | Whitewater | 0 comments Photos By Stephen Wright After a near-record low water August, West Virginia finally got a good rain last night through this afternoon. And in Fayetteville, it was a storm to the tune of 1 1/2 inches! After looking at levels in the area, we decided to check out a local treat. I was lucky enough to be able to paddle with my friends Bryan Kirk and Jeremy Laucks, and we discovered that Mill Creek was running. Mill Creek is steep, rocky, and SUPER fun. There’s the clean 18′ freefall drop, and several other 5-10′ falls, including "Headless Horseman". It’s was an hour and a half of pure fun. It was also the perfect way to follow the first Gauley weekend of the season. Hopefully tomorrow, we’ll be on Mann’s, or maybe even another higher Gauley run! Enjoy the photo sequence of Mill Creek Falls, shot by Bryan Kirk with my brand new 40D. Kind of like a kid on Christmas morning with this toy….I’m so psyched for the 6.5 frames per second and great photos to come! Should make for lots of incredible sequences. Enjoy!
