Hometown Throwdown #1: Reno by Will Richardson | Mar 13, 2008 | Whitewater | 0 comments Photos By Stephen Wright The first-ever Hometown Throwdown in Reno took place last night in low-water and colder temperatures than normal. Nearly 30 local paddlers came-out to enjoy the competition and a great time was had by all–despite the weather and river levels. Hole #5 gave lots of cartwheels, loops, splitwheels, spins, and Jason even hit a Mcnasty! Lots of sweet prizes were raffled at the end of the event, and everyone cheered when Toby announced that there’d be another event each month 🙂 What a cool opportunity to get local paddlers together once a month to show-off who’s been paddling most! The Hometown Throwdowns are a series of free local events organized by Worldkayak all over the country. Check out www.worldkayak.com for results and more coverage. This event was run by Colin and Toby, who is the Reno area Worldkayak Ambassador. Enjoy the photos!
