Raised near the American River, Sean spent nearly every waking hour of his childhood at down at the river; fishing, paddling, and swimming. Sean stayed true to his childhood dreams, and pursued a career in fisheries, receiving his degree in Fisheries Biology from Humboldt State University in 1991. Since that time, Sean has managed river and creeks full time, striking a balance between the needs and fish, rivers, and people. Living in Northern California Sean generally focuses on cold-water species such as steelhead, lingcod, and halibut. However he makes annual excursions to Baja to guide with his good friend Jim Sammons.
While Sean enjoys hanging a big fish himself, nothing makes him happier than putting kids on their first trophy. Sean believes that these early positive experiences lay a strong foundation toward creating active youth with a love of the outdoors. Sean White is a kayak fishing guide, fisheries biologist, and Kokatat Ambassador. Sean has also won the NorCal Kayak Angler’s title of “Angler of the Year” in 2008.
