Day 3 of traveling, cool stuff by Will Richardson | May 11, 2005 | Whitewater | 0 comments May 11, 2005 Photos We woke up in Wyoming after a good night’s sleep and I started driving at 5:45am. Wyoming is way too big. We had 209 miles to get to Utah, but we made it. We had breakfast in Park City (home of the Olympic winter ski events in 2002) at 10am, Kristine shopped at a Wild Oats grocery store, Emily got some sushi and put it in the fridge for lunch. That was our ritzy stop. We passed through Salt Lake City and out into the Great Salt Desert where we came upon this cool "evaporation pool". The kids couldn’t resist a walk across it, only to find that it was many miles across, when it looked like a short distance to them. They turned around and came back and became human crystal salt licks. I grabbed the camera for some cool photos. Also notice the cool mirages. You really couldn’t tell if it was water or not without moving and seeing that it kept moving away. The reflection in the mirage is really cool. We just crossed into Nevada and I am getting the bug to start gambling! 375 more miles according to the sign I just saw. I am going to use my special poker playing tactics on the big boys in one of those smoke filled rooms at the Silver Legacy Casino, where most guys will have hats on, sunglasses, and are taking it way to seriously. I am going to casually announce that I am going to "buy this pot, and will only be bluffing" and then go all in without seeing the flop. That is one of my favorites that is a 75% winner if people don’t know me and I do it before they get to deep. That will set the tone and the game will not be like any they have played before. I have a budget for this kind of entertainment this week of $100. I’ll play poker with $40, then play black jack the rest of the week, maybe three nights this week. It is not something you can do at Rock Island, and I am not someone who plays for anything other than the entertainment value. We’ll also go to the Star Wars movie, and I’ll take Kristine to a show at one of the Casinos. Last year we saw a show called "Broadway" which was a medly of all of the big shows. We’ll see what is playing this year that the kids will like too. 🙂 EJ Submit a Comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
