Jackson Kayak has been at the forefront of kayak designs and fun since 2003. We have grown from a small operation of around 10 employees in around a 500 square facility , to one of the largest employers in our county , with over 100  employees in a 330,000 square facility .Our employees are not just employees but are truly friends and family. We make a product that is fun, and try to make sure all our employees remember that . We have just a few kayaks ; ) and gear for them to use and rent out . We also teach employees classes on how to use our product when the seasons allow, and obviously offer stellar deals to our employees on our products. Kayak Craftsman

Position:  Kayak Craftsman.

Hours: 1st Shift: (7:00 AM-3:30 PM)

Reports to: Assembly Manager

Expectations:

In this department you are going to have a very personal hand in building some of the most exciting kayaks in the industry. You will be building a product that brings customers joy.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Hand-Craft Industry-Leading Kayaks
    • Work as a team with outdoor-oriented team members.
    • Build and assemble industry-leading kayaks with exceptional quality utilizing hand tools.
    • Constantly work to stay up with the exciting pace of production
    • Clean up and keep tidy workstation daily
    • Other career opportunities may be assigned by your supervisor
    • Identify any quality issues and report to line lead

Qualifications:

  • Love building and assembling
    • Experience with building or assembly of complex objects
    • Experience utilizing hand tools (sharp blade, rasps, small tools, power drills, rotary tools)
    • Help to keep our facility safe and maintain our excellent safety record

Rotomolding

Expectations: 

At Jackson Kayak, Rotomolding is not a department it’s an adventure! Here you are going to get to create something truly awesome and unique. You will be helping to create a product that people love in some of our planets most beautiful places. Teamwork is critical and anything less is unacceptable. You will be working with a fun family like team.

Shifts: Third: 10:45p – 7:00 am (Sunday – Thursday) || Second: 2:45p – 11:15p (Monday – Friday)

General Responsibilities:

Continuously strive to produce some of the most exciting outdoor products with Porche-like quality and performance.

Specific Responsibilities:

    • Promote and ensure good Health Safety Environment practices are followed
    • Ensure customer quality standards are adhered to and related issues are responded to in a timely manner.
    • Learns the safety steps and operation of running various roto molding machines.
    • Heavy lifting is required at times (weight can vary from 5 lbs to 85 lbs)
      • Must be able to regularly lift 40 -80 lbs.
    • Meet daily production demands while maintaining quality and safety standards.
    • Use of various hand tools (screw drivers, drills, impact guns) and plastic trimming tools such as J- hooks, rasps and other beveled edge tools.
    • Use of Overhead crane for moving molds
    • Basic material handling, moving material from storage area to area of operation.
    • Inspect and record roto molding processes.
    • Perform all QC checks and reports to Manager if parameters are not met.

Qualifications:

  • Industry Expertise
    • Preferred Roto molding experience
  • Basic knowledge of hand/power tools

Small Parts Specialist

Expectations: 

At Jackson Kayak, we get to work with some of the most exciting outdoor oriented people. In this department, you are going to be building some handcrafted parts that play an integral role in the enjoyment of our products by our customers. You will be a crucial part of the assembly team.

Shift: 6:45a – 3:30p (Monday – Friday)

General Responsibilities:

Continuously strive to produce some of the most exciting outdoor products with Porche-like quality and performance.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assembles Small Parts and Assemblies
    • Work as a team with outdoor-oriented team members.
    • Monitor the quality and consistency of the product.
    • Trims, deburrs small parts utilizing beveled edge hand tools, utility blades and other small hand tools.
    • Assembles complex parts efficiently while monitoring and maintaining quality standards.
    • Constantly work to stay up with the exciting pace of production.
    • Clean up and keep tidy workstation daily
    • Other career opportunities may be assigned by your supervisor
    • Constantly working to stay up with industry trends and educational opportunities
    • Identify any quality issues and report to Line lead
  • Fine Tuning of Product
    • Trims product using rasps, beveled edge tools, and Xacto knives
    • Maintains quality and consistency standards.
    • Operates in a safe manner.

Qualifications:

    • Love building and assembling
    • Experience with building or assembly of complex items
    • Experience with hand tools (rasps, small tools, air routers)
    • Comfortable working with small items
    • Comfortable with tasks of a repetitive nature.
