Austin R sends in this review of his new Mega-Rocker… by Will Richardson | Apr 7, 2007 | Rockers, Whitewater | 0 comments Hey EJ, just wanted to give you a shout and tell you how much i’m loving the new Mega. It’s taken a bit of getting used to, but only because I’ve been paddling a flat-hulled boat for the last 5 years and the rounded hull does things a bit differently. But after workin out the kinks I’m absolutely loving this kayak. It’s got awesome stability, SUPER easy to boof, plows through (mostly over) holes, turns on a dime and is much faster than I anticipated. So far I’ve been able to get several high water runs on the Little White Salmon and the Green Truss section of the White Salmon and feel i’ve given this thing a pretty good test on lots of different types of drops. I know a craftsman never blames his tools, but I do think this boat is going to help me improve as a kayaker! I haven’t done much shooting on the little white or truss yet this year, but did do a photo shoot with a local photographer last week on Canyon Creek. I’ll attach a few of those photos to this email. How is/was Africa? your updates have been making me jealous all winter. Looks like a bunch of fun, I’m hopin to head over there one of these winters. As for me, I’m off to Italy in a few weeks to do some creeking and race in the Teva Games at Val Sesia. When I get back in May I’ll race at the Teva Games before putting on the Grand Canyon for 3 perfect weeks! You guys comin to Vail? Tell Emily and Dane I said hey. Take Care Austin R.
