The University of Memphis wraps up another successful semester! by Will Richardson | Dec 7, 2007 | Whitewater | 0 comments By Samantha Brunner Hey EJ!! Its Samantha Brunner. While the SE has been pretty dry Boyd and I have still managed to get in the wet- even in Memphis! Every Monday night the University of Memphis has a Kayaking class that we help instruct under Jim Smith. In the U of M kayaking class the students learn the basic skills and techniques needed to navigate their way down the river as well as learn how to do Eskimo rescues and rolls. This semester wrapped up very well with all but a few learning how to roll, thankfully that was only extra credit ; ) The group was eager to learn and a few of them have already been to some of the paddling functions that Memphis Whitewater, our local kayaking group, has offered. I completely enjoyed working with these guys and girls that came through out class this semester and I wanted you to enjoy some photos that I took the last night of class while we were practicing rolling and doing the skills test which serves for the final exam. Enjoy! Samantha As for everyone! Boyd- hes up to something! Kayaking is FUN Margaret learning her roll Please dont try this at home Renee learning her Roll Skills test We do not teach this!
