Mission: Cheoah River, sore backs and the chronicle of the shuttle bunny by Will Richardson | Feb 17, 2008 | 2010 Star, Classic Stars, Heros, Whitewater | 0 comments Photos By Billy Harris Just going to put this out there, shuttle bunny’s get it tough. For all shuttle bunny’s everywhere I send my condolences. I literally sat on my butt all day long watching people have fun. Ruth Gordan left for Costa Rica with all her little Jackson buddies. That ment the wife and I are dog sitting for 3 weeks. The dogs great until 530 am and throws herself on her back between my wife an I, legs in the air sighing as loudly as she can wanting to get let out side for a Pee. I let her out side and she just stands there looking at me like its time to go for a run. Being a dog owner… I am not. So up and at em early in the morning, off to the Cheoah River. The whole Jackson Plant all choosing the fastest way to the river. We all took different routs and all showed up at the same time. It was cool, the whole factory empties out and hits the river. Pretty wicked. There has been this HIPPIE guy staying at Clays house. Chris Wing, Funny guy actually. He got given/forced the task of leading my wife down the river for the day. Me in the truck withing the whole day… poor guy I feel that I put a little pressure on him. "If she gets hurt I’ll more than likely clobber you and leave you in the ditch". he looked a little taken back. I can’t say I blame him. I did mean it, I guess he worked at NOC and according to my wife he was, and I quote "an amazing guide". I’m a pretty picky guy about my wife. she runs with mace, I follow her to the bathroom door, I know where she is at all times and am a bit over protective of her. Harris gives 2 thumbs up he did a great job. If your interested in being take care of hit up the US national WW Center and as for this guy. I have been coaching people for a long time and the kid knows his stuff. I’m from the colder part of North America and am not to familiar with the Cheoah. Apparently allot of people were involved, Bob Hathcock along with alot of great people brought this little jem back to the paddlers. For that mad props…. AW and other groups down here in Yankee land do alot to keep the rivers open to boaters and the sport. I am all broken, I up sized to the Super star, and tried tossing it around like my all star.. Wrong. I picked up some weight in the last year and needed to upgrade to the super. That didn’t work out at all. I was in usual form trying new things, twisting flipping and pulling and now I am broken, lower back all Teetered. So I get the task of Shuttle bunny for the Cheoah. It worked out great, I got to watch all sorts of sadistic yard sales at the rapid known as Bear Creek Falls. All in all I took allot of photos of Jackson boats, cause most of them were people trying out the Hero’s and people I know. Check em out.
