All Day at the Gold Ray by Will Richardson | Sep 20, 2008 | Whitewater | 0 comments October 20, 2008 By Darin McQuoid Photos Gold Ray is a unique spot on the Rogue River in Southern Oregon. It’s created by a dam that is slated for removal, so it wont be around too long. Thankfully over the 2008 summer flows were perfect for the unusual, sunken wave/hole to be in for over two months. The sessions generally included many friendly locals like Allreds, Jackson Kayak lovers and owners of Adventure Whitewater, as well as their large crew of raft guides converting to kayakers. Once Ashland local Ben Stookesberry and Shasta local Devin Knight also came up for several sweet sessions on this mid summer beauty, and as the photos can attest, Jackson Kayaks were the craft of choice at Gold Ray. With stellar mountain biking and good friends, it was a wonderful place to be. Darin Submit a Comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
