Take a walk to the back of the factory and you’ll see a whole new
place! Our production and operations team has been busy all fall getting
ready for this moment. Our own ovens and molding ourselves! We can now
maintain the molds ourselves, and keep an eye on every boat molded like
never before! Our team is made up of what I believe to be the best
molders in the industry. Leif Koelher is our director of molding and has
over 10 years of molding kayaks experience, but is a quality freak and a Can
Do guy, and that makes all of the difference. John Shepherd and Tony Lee
on the project is like putting a pro football quarterback and receiver in a
high school game. Over kill is a term used when you don’t absolutely have
to do it right and win the game. We aren’t willing to take the chance of
missing the mark. Things are different at JK, but the same. Same
owners, same families at work, and same ideals, but a different operation.
We are taking charge of all aspects of the business in order to get it done
right, and done profitably. A down economy? Yes, people are spending less
and have less to spend in many areas, but we are bringing the best we can to
you, the paddlers and giving you good reasons to get your new JK boat. We
are also doing what we can to make money in a down economy, which means we
can continue to bring you the best boats. If we can’t make money, then we
can’t make new boats, and that doesn’t sound like fun.

I am so proud of our team at the factory, I can’t even begin to tell you.
Dave Olson is the man that has really gone into overdrive to put together
the dream team of kayak manufacturing and making them gel as a team. Many
of these people have been with us for years already, but they have only
begun to be challenged.

Tony Lunt, my partner, has been a believer in this business, and his backing
of our plans is the key to making progress towards a company that we are all
proud of.

Yes, there are many others that make this company go, but our production
team deserves the attention today!
