Every spring we seem to get a cold spell in Northern California. This year
it was during Ryan Knights spring break, so we had to go somewhere. When
it’s cold, that somewhere tends to be the Kaweah. Thus we made the trek for
the third year in a row, turning it into an annual spring trip for us.

This yearwe had "cold" 60 degree weather on the Kaweah (normally 80+) so
flows were a little lower than normal, so we decided to check out Chuck
Kerns drop on the Middle Kaweah. It’s a big complex slide that looks mean in
person, but goes a little better than it looks. Amazing that Chuck ran it in
a long boat, so much respect!

Chris Korbulic was stoked to be back paddling in California, and probed
away with sucess. Ryan, Devin and I followed and then starting exploring the
river downstream. On previous trips we had put in lower, and never will
again now that we know what we missed. There are some great boofs in the
Hospital Rock section of the Kaweah, but more than anything we were all
stoked to be paddling together again after an eight month hiatus. No matter
what the river, paddling with the right people always takes it up a notch.
Chris and the Knights have great positive attitudes, good safety awareness
and nothing to prove, yet love to fire up the big drops. Inspiring guys to
paddle with, and we were all ear to ear grins while nailing boof after boof
in our Heros on the Kaweah.
