Dave Crerar's BC report by Will Richardson | Sep 30, 2009 | Whitewater | 0 comments This year unlike most I had the opportunity to stay in Canada rather than head home and continue University. Having finished last May it meant I could do what all boaters want to do and keep boating. This September I hoped into a car after another great summer on the Ottawa, and made the trip out west to visit the legendary Skookumchuck. IT was amazing, although the lines were super long, you could take the risk of taking a tour through the boils and whirlpool if you surfed the outside shoulder, this is what I did and I was definitely ready for that burger at the end of the week. After Skook I met up with some more Ottawa friends and they showed me around BC where we creeked on a bunch of lovely rivers. It is a big change from Ireland not only in the size of the rivers but also teh fact that you randomly see bears stomping around banks and take out roads, needless to say myself and the other foreigners were pretty scared. At the moment I am studying up for a season as a ski patrol here in BC, and hopefully will see you all in Vail this spring.
