First Trip in Coosa! by Brady Sullivan | Mar 1, 2011 | Coosa, Fishing | 0 comments I finally had a chance to take my Coosa out on the river this weekend and I was impressed! Saturday I put the boat in the river and stepped right into it, didn’t even get my feet wet. Since this was a new river to me, I continued to stand and paddle out into the main part of the river to look for a re-occurring structure pattern before I began fishing. Two other Coosa owners and I ended the day with a handful of bass each, the largest being a nice 3 pounder! I was a little wobbly all afternoon while casting and paddling from the standing position but I was more confident in the stability than I thought I would be on my first trip out. The pattern we found to be successful on this 82 degree February day was fishing watermelon green with red flake flukes in shallow water. Sunday found me on another river, solo this time, and I was amazed how much my “sea legs” had improved after only one day on the water. On this day, I found the fish biting on Texas rigged soft plastic crawdads fished close to submerged trees. I ended my day with a number of small bass and a solid 19 incher! As water temperatures continue to rise, the fishing should only get better here in Texas, so be looking for more reports from me soon!
