Rockstar L in Boise by alecvoorhees | Apr 21, 2011 | Rockstar | 2 comments While I am waiting for my new Rockstar L, I have been using the demo from Alpenglo Mountainsports in Boise, Idaho. I have paddled it 3 times since it came out. Once at Climax Wave on the Payette River and twice at Barber Park wave on The Boise River. At Climax I was getting some Pan-Ams and Airscrews. I noticed that the rockstar was very fast and stayed in control on a very bouncy/trashy wave that allows 20-30 second rides at max. Once It gets a bounce it automatically wants to throw a big move! At Barber Park it was surfing on drastically different feature. Barber Park is a mellow riverwide hole with the river right side being a small wave. Although the Rockstar L is way big for me I can still throw it around with just a little effort. Barber was giving up big loops, Space Godzillas, and Mcnasty’s. Here are a few Pics. Check it out. 2 Comments Alex on April 25, 2011 at 5:46 pm … I was wondering why at your weight you choose the large over the medium Rockstar? – and will this be your only playboat? Can you throw it down on the flat? I’m 170lb and find the M too cramped, but am having difficulty getting my head around paddling such a big boat, (L) despite being able to throw it down – it is big! Sweet pics… Reply Alec Voorhees on April 26, 2011 at 11:28 pm The Large is going to be my only playboat. I am 6′ now and have a size 13 shoe. I chose the large over the medium because it is very uncomfortable with the seat all the way back and the Happy Feet out of the boat. I moved the seat all the way forward, put in 200 Sweet Cheeks, and 4 hip pad shims and can throw the Large around fine in flatwater because of the lighter weight of the boat. I am only 14 and am not as strong as I will be in the future. It is a big boat, but the tricks are much bigger even though you have to really muscle it around.
