Green River Wyoming: Great Kayak and Great Lodging: The Feature and Hampton Inn and Suites Delivers!: by Emily Jackson | May 21, 2011 | Whitewater | 4 comments Green River Wyoming: Hampton Inn is the Place to Be! This is my first time paddling at the Green River Expedition Play park and all I have to say is that it is AWESOME! They have control over the feature using bladder controlled panels so that one minute you can be surfing a pour over and the next; a sweet wave! I recommend anyone working on their playboating to come check this area out! The water has been a little cold which is one reason we decided to get a hotel room for this trip. We searched around and the one that had the most amenities for a very reasonable price was the Hampton Inn and Suites. After boating we jump into the Jacuzzi to warm up, have a cup a coffee, dry our gear in the dryer, and back to the river we go! Also, something I have never seen before, which is pretty phenomenal, is complimentary dinner Monday through Thursday. Tonight I had barbeque chicken sandwiches with salad and they offered cookie and ice cream for dessert! They have a hearty breakfast with waffles, fruit and scrambled eggs. When not boating or eating at the hotel, we have been checking out the area. Yesterday we took the Wild Horse Canyon road past the hotel, onto a dirt road and up the mountain we went. The view from the top is amazing, you can see the town, the river, the railroad winding its way around the mountains, and you can see WILD HORSES! My whole family jumped in the car to go check out the view and lucked out seeing 4 wild horses, including a foal! Check out what the hotel has to say about the area: “Explore the river that gave the town its name… Behold stunning natural beauty and wildlife at the Green Belt Nature Area and the Scotts Bottom Nature Area… it’s all located within a few minutes of our hotel in Green River. As you stroll through town, it will be hard to miss the majestic natural scenery like the Green River Rock Formations, including the Palisades, Toll Gate and the “Cliffs of Green River” (made famous in paintings by Thomas Moran). Our Green River hotel also puts you within easy reach of the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, offering over 200,000 acres of natural beauty around the Flaming Gorge Reservoir, perfect for hiking, fishing and bird watching. Be sure to catch some of the area’s annual events, including the Flaming Gorge Days, the River Festival and Art on the Green every summer.” Sounds pretty fun huh? Here is link to an article written about the Play Park with a Few Photos of the feature (or a feature it can be! ) https://hub.jacksonkayak.com/blog/2009/09/20/green-river-wy-builds-a-sweet-playpark-this-from-billy-bob-malesky/ Here is a link to the Hampton Inn and Suites: http://hamptoninn.hilton.com/en/hp/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=GRVWYHX Big thanks to the City of Green River for being so inviting and Hotel Manager David Lewis for making sure us cold kayakers are well taken care of! Safe Travels and Happy Paddling to All! I noticed all the Jackson logos and the Tennessee license plates so I check the website and found your posting. I need to process the photos but will be glad to send them to you as soon as I am done. We too stayed in the Hampton Inn and were pleasantly surprised. Service was great and folks were friendly. I may have photos of you. Were you in pink? Let me know where you would like the photos emailed. Pete Cheyenne Reply Dave on May 20, 2011 at 8:07 am Just curious, is Jud camping or Hampton Inning it too? Reply Clay Wright on May 20, 2011 at 3:02 pm I’m not sure where Jud is staying, but due to the number of women asking I think it’s best for us not to say. Hate to have his fans crowd the breakfast buffet while waiting in the AM or raid his mini-bar or just shine headlights through the camper for a sneak peak during the night. He may be beefcake to his fans but he’s a seriously talented athlete to us at JK and we want him on that podium. Reply Dave on May 20, 2011 at 8:10 pm Yeah, the word in the eddy is “Jud the Stud” is a handsome man …. he’s also a real good athlete and put him in a JK kayak watch that handsome man flyyyyy!
