13th Annual Best in the West, Presented by Big Sky Brewery.

On Thursday, June 7th we celebrated our 13th annual Best in the West freestyle kayak competition. The event was held downtown in Missoula at Brennan’s wave, a memorial to one of Missoula’s great paddlers Brennan Guth. As booths were set up and kayakers started taking practice rides crowds gathered on the side of the river in anticipation for the event to start and a champion to be named. Due to high fast flows still churning through the heart of Missoula, the wave has held up to be a great feature with characteristics of both a wave and a hole. This made for some amazing rides and a huge amount of fun to be had in competition. Hopefully next year will be just as much fun and more people will show up to compete!
