Jackson Kayak in Illuminati

When I first heard that Jackson Kayak was going to come out with a kayak that glows in the dark, I thought “these guys have a few screws loose”. The more I thought about it the more I liked the idea of having a glowing kayak. Why not have a kayak that glows in the dark? It will definitely be safer when night fishing and who knows, may even attract the fish to your vicinity.

Jackson Kayak introduced the “Illuminati” option as a color choice when ordering their kayaks about a month ago. The color option is an extra expenditure, but well worth it.
I ordered my Illuminati “glow in the dark” on a 2013 JK Cuda 14. I unwrapped it like a kid at Christmas and was in awe at how good the kayak looked. I am a big proponent of being visible on the water, day or night. The glow kayak, in the day time, is an off white color and is very visible on the water.

The 2013 Jackson Kayak Cuda also came with RAM ball mounts behind the seat and one up front to fit the RAM 2007 rod holder and tube rod holders. Not only do the RAM ball additions work great for rod holders, they are also very useful for other RAM compatible accessories like camera mounts, GPS mounts, etc.Also included up front is a GoPro mount to easily mount your GoPro for videos of your adventure.

As with all JK kayaks that include rudders and are directly shipped to you, the rudder assembly easily installs and works great. After getting the kayak ready for it’s maiden voyage I turned off all the lights in the garage, the kayak does glow! It is a warm/ soft glow that is absolutely amazing to see. You can DIY this yak by adding LED lights on the inside to make it really pop at night.
My first trip out in the new JK Cuda was the day after I received it. I participated in the Coastal Georgia Heroes On the Water Event at Skidaway Narrows in Savannah, GA.. I gave an overview of the new JK kayak to the guys that attended and then we set out to do some fishing with our Heroes. Congrats Jackson Kayak on another awesome product for us kayak fishermen (and fisherladies)!
