A Few Firsts by ericboyd | Jan 25, 2013 | Big Tuna, Fishing, Fishing Reports, Freshwater, Freshwater Fishing, rivers | 0 comments It was a day of firsts… Laura and I took our first fishing trip of the year today. It was Laura’s and my first trip together in the Jackson Kayak “Big Tuna” and it also happened to be our first time fishing a particular stretch of the Catawba River. Laura caught her first largemouth bass from a kayak and she also caught her first white bass ever. The weather forecast was beautiful and we were not disappointed. Air temperatures reached the 70’s while the water temperature were in the mid-50’s. Our day in the Big Tuna was great as many fish were brought to the kayak and a few great memories were made. The Big Tuna is a tandem kayak that also converts into a single person yak. At 14′ this really is a great guide boat and I am happy to have it as a part of my fleet. Though I caught two fish (trolling spinner baits), this day was all about guiding Laura to her first largemouth bass out of a kayak. The Day was really great as Laura caught 5 largemouth and 2 white bass. Here are a few pics…enjoy! Submit a Comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
