Jackson Cruise on Merced River by JK Team | Jan 6, 2013 | Uncategorized | 5 comments First impressions of the Cruise is its a perfect first fishing kayak. We used it for fly fishing and loved the simple deck layout. We put two ram rod holders on the back and away we went. The kayak does it all well. It tracks well on the flats, and turns decent when you need it to. We took it on some class one river with our Coosa’s and it was more than capable in the moving water, but not as fun by any means as the Coosa. Our thoughts are if you can only afford one fishing kayak to get started this is the best thing going. Reply beu vang on February 14, 2013 at 1:50 am Nicely done! You guys just may have made it possible for me to get into a quality sot kayak yet. Just a few questions and a suggestion. Does this kayak come equiped with inserts? Appears so from the pic on the main JK Cruise page. I thought I saw four? Second, does it come with removeable skid plate? Lastly, we need a earth tone. Recreational/Touring?….Really?! More like a shark dress up as a guppy. Gotta date on the video yet? Reply James McBeath on February 15, 2013 at 2:27 am Hey Beu, Thanks! Glad you like it. Its indeed a cuda all dressed down. Cuda 12 hull performance but simplified to be affordable. The molding does indeed have inserts for plano and other tackle boxes and all our kayaks have skid plates for the inevitable dragging sessions 😉 The cruise is light though, so dragging might happen less often than the Tuna for example. Replacement plates are cheap and found at our store. I agree, the Cruise is a bit bright in their colours. You can order custom colors for $100 to $150 (to confirm). We categorize this kayak an “Exploration” kayak. Great for casual use for family outting etc, but VERY ready for fishing! Reply beu vang on February 19, 2013 at 9:38 pm Thanks James! Will you have a Cruise on display at Canoecopia? Also, what other kayaks will you have at the show? Reply Kelly Anderson on June 27, 2013 at 9:26 am Is it safe in there? I really want to try kayaking. Reply Submit a Comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
