Bear creek is one of the greatest creeks in the southeast and is one of my favorite runs. Its a nice fairly long creek with good gradient. Its got sweet boofs, nice steep long rapids, and has one of the best rapids you can run, stairway to heaven. Stairway is a sliding cascading rapid for about 20 feet and then a little 4 footer onto more sliding for about 10 more feet. Then it drops about 15 feet onto even more slide and continues for another 30 feet off another cascading piece with a 10 footer at the bottom. It is one of the more intimidating rapids to run and its so awesome looking down it, as well as looking back up at it. Its still one of my favorite rapids and the bear is one of the jk families personal favorites.
