First Paddle of 2014 by kelloggfamily | Jan 7, 2014 | Whitewater | 0 comments Every year our family participates in the Shoshone New Years Day Paddle to kick of the new paddling season! It was our 3rd year joining the 30+ Colorado boaters for this epic day and we plan on making it a family tradition. This year was Cardy’s first time ever participating in the Shoshone NYD paddle!! He was told he was the youngest paddler to ever run Shoshone on the first cold, icy day of the year which made him laugh and say, “Maddy will be next year.” — he’s not one to let anything go to his head. He was chilly, but this didn’t affect his spirits as he traversed the fun Class III run full of icy ramps and floating icebergs! Mega props to Marty & Sonia Cronin for warming everyone up with hot chocolate and chili!! That’s a pretty epic thing to return to after a 40 minute freeze run!! 🙂 And to Peter Holcombe for adding “organizer” to his paddling resume!
