Jackson Kayak Ships All-New Karma Unlimited (UL) Whitewater Kayak by jacksonkayak | Mar 12, 2014 | 2014 Karma Unlimited, Karma Unlimited, Press Releases, Whitewater | 2 comments March 11, 2014 – Press Release Jackson Kayak has added a new long boat class whitewater kayak to its Karma river running family with the addition of the Karma Unlimited (UL). The Karma UL is built to race downriver events and be a boat of choice for expeditions. The UL will also have a sister kayak in the Karma Rock Garden (RG) for playing in ocean surf and for river and ocean expedition paddling. The planning hull provides extra bow control at higher speeds and the new rocker with the peaked deck helps keep the paddler high and dry. This kayak is perfect for racing downriver, creeking and river running of all kinds for both expert paddlers and new boaters alike. The new hull design makes it easier to paddle, more forgiving and, with the addition of 2014 outfitting, more comfortable! It also features added safety with Jackson’s unique Uni-Shock Bulkhead system that absorbs those hard hits. “I had the chance to test paddle the Karma UL prototype on my standard proving ground, Section IV of the Chattooga, along with two others paddlers in competitive ‘long boats’” adds Joe Pulliam of Jackson Kayak, “While all were fast and all had their merits, the Unlimited was special to me because of it has the speed of a longer boat but is stable, predictable, and in general paddles like a shorter boat. It will turn flat or on edge, boofs like a Karma, and makes the lake paddle at the end a breeze! While this boat has obvious appeal to expert-level paddlers, it has the overall ease of use that makes it suitable for far lesser skilled paddlers as well.” “Jackson enters the long boat market with a stretched out but still easy to paddle of our Karma creek boat for racing, fitness paddling, or just moving faster on your favorite run.” States Clay Wright, Jackson Kayak’s team lead, “The karma unlimited give you all performance, comfort and safety features of the Karma in a longer, faster version.” The Karma Unlimited is currently available for ordering at all Jackson Kayak dealers. I bought one 4 years ago and only got to use it a couple of times before being run over by a car. With 10 broken bones and a rod replacing my shoulderblade – I wasn’t able to work, let alone paddle. I want to get back into river running, and wanted to get another Karma UL or RG – but you discontinued them and don’t seem to have a boat that can handle someone 6 foot 5 and 260lbs. I know the Zen 3.0 will carry 280lbs – but add in my gear and I think I’ll need more capacity (plus, I like the longer length). So do you have any leftover Karma UL’s, or demo boats, or plans to make more? Please. Reply jeff on June 11, 2021 at 7:19 pm hello Robert, just reaching out to say i get you! i was hit by a car (8-2013) too… airlifted, 10 weeks icu and 1 year therapy to learn to walk again. 10 plates, 34 screws, total hip replacement, permanent foot drop, etc… you know my pain! before my accident i lived to yak… im a class 4 paddler. we moved to N. Ga,from Ms 3 yrs ago… bout 30 mi S. of chattanooga, with all the whitewater around us i just cant sit on the sidelines. next step was finding a yak that would fit my size (6′-1″ 230lbs) and disability. well today i picked up a used krama ul and love it! found it last week in chattanooga. after months of looking, its the only yak i can get in and out of safely. i haven’t had a chance to paddle it yet and need to hit the pool to check my roll out. my days of class 4 are over, but class 1-3 and lakes will be just fine with me! dont know if you have found a karma UL by now, but ill be happy to BOLO. i can post here again and contact james at jackson kayak for contact info. if you found one then disregard. like i said, i know how it goes… we might not be 100%, but i be damned if i gotta give up what i love! paddle or die… see ya on the river!
