Outfitting a Jackson Kayak for a Smaller Paddler by Cate Hawthorne | Jun 4, 2014 | Instructional, Karma RG, Rigging, Video | 0 comments I love the simplicity and functionality of Jackson Kayak’s outfitting. Jackson Kayaks are easily adjusted to fit different sized paddlers and easy to adjust on the fly (simply eddy-out or paddle into calm deep water, pop your spry deck and adjust). One adjustment that I have found helpful in the Jackson boats is lowering the backband. Last winter, I experimented with lowering the backband in my Zen 55. After a few rounds, I have found a “just-right” position for it. When I got my Karma RG, re-routing the backband to sit lower was the first thing that I did. Here’s a video showing why and how one could re-route the backband to suite a smaller paddler.
