PM – Jackson Kayak Fishing Open, 2014

 

Generally

The event will be held for the first time from Friday 31 October to Sunday 2 November 2014. It is open to kayak fishermen and others want to try out this wonderful and effective way of fishing. We hope for many participants from both Sweden and other countries. The purpose is primarily to create an event when kayak fishermen can meet to socialize, go fishing and share experiences. Another purpose is to inspire others anglers to try kayak fishing, and with it also certainly be a kayak fisherman in the future, and to develop the sport.

 

Program

 

• Friday, October 31

• Register at the Event Centre (the sport fishing shop)

• 18:00 to 20:00 – Lecture in the main building for those who wish

• 20:00 onwards – grilling at the Viking village for those who wish. We serve a nice barbecue dinner for a reasonable price

 

• Saturday, Nov. 1

• From 07:00 – picking up the start washer. Dipstick, black plastic bag and sea charts – own preparations

• 08:30 is the start.

• By 15:00 you should be back and enrolled at the Event Centre (sport shop). Pictures of pikes you want to enroll in the competition charging over to the race management computer

• 18:00 to 20:00 – Lecture in the main building for those who wish

• 20:00 onwards – grilling at the Viking village for those who wish. We serve a nice barbecue dinner for a reasonable price

 

• Sunday, November 2

• From 07:00 – picking up the start washer. Dipstick, black plastic bag and charts – own preparations

• 08:30 is the start.

• 18:00 – The results are announced – awards

Competition rules

 

• The total length of the two longest pikes you catch during the two days of competition constitutes your competition result. The length of the pike shall be at least 75 cm to get registered in the competition

• 100% catch and release, however, the fish that suffered severe damage and which are not considered to have good prospects for survival are to be killed and eaten.

• When measuring the pike will be put on soaked black plastic bag along with the dipstick whose zero point should be level with start of the jaw. Start washer with your race number is placed and taking picture with digital camera or mobile phone (must bear the usual memory card for easy transfer to the race management computer)

• To reduce stress on the pike to be measured for any competition notice, all participating kayaks should have their own catch bag with them. The pike should directly be put in the catch bag after being unhooked in which it is allowed to recover before being measured and photographed

• Several rods are allowed to be carried in the kayak, but only one may be used at a time

• Only spin, jerk – and fly fishing is permitted

• Trolling, bait fishing with live or dead bait is not allowed

• Permitted fishing area consists of Region of Blekinges coastline and archipelagos. Car transport is of course allowed during the competition. Putting the kayak in the water and taking it up again may only occur in a public place and not on private property if you have not received permission from the landowner. Combining boat and kayak is not allowed

• Pike notified to the competition must be caught from a kayak. You may not leave the kayak, wade and catch it in this way

 

Signup

• The entry fee is 300 kr who is to be payed paid no later than one week after the date of notification by e-mail. Payment is made by bank transfer . Banking details will be given by email

• Entries should be made by email message by 1 October at Pike Srike Sweden pikestrike@hotmail.com (see contact details on www.pikestrikesweden.com)

• The registration fee includes a tent camp during the event.

• Maximum number of participants 60 people

Safety regulations

Jackson Pro Team Sweden’s members form the event direction and also the security personnel. At least one safety boat with maximum time contingency will be staffed during the competition hours. Telephone number of the organizer is 46 705 920868th Others:

• All must wear a life jacket or equivalent for all sea activities during the event

• Wire cutters capable of cutting by sharp hooks shall be included in each kayak

• All kayaks must be able to make themselves known through audio signal when paddling (whistle or equivalent)

• All participants must bring a waterproof cell phone whose phone is notified upon arrival registration

• Nurse with first-aid and CPR will be at the competition center during the two days of competition

• When burning wood in a tent stoves shall fire guard be in the tent. This means that it is useful to as many people as possible are in a tent before another tent utilized. A fire guard lis made ​​up overnight if heating will occur. The list is divided into one hour periods for those who sleep in the tent that night. The fire guards job is to 1) awaken dormant if fire breaks out 2) put out and possibly cut up the tent wall to facilitate evacuation and help their peers. 3) fire in the right scale so that the stove does not become overheated. Fire protection in the tent shall include broom for extinguishing, water-filled bucket and knife.

 

Location and directions

The fishing camp on the abutment (Pike Strike Sweden) on the island Senoren – GPS Position: 56 ° 8’16 .99 “N, 15 ° 44’28 .97” O. E22 from Karlskrona in the direction of Kalmar. After the leisure park “Children’s Farm”, in the subsequent roundabout, turn right towards Sturkö, Tjurkö. Follow the road to Möcklösund bridge and pass it. You can find the camp on your right after the bridge.

 

Laying

Four military 20-person tent with heaters will be set the week before, during the event and the week after. The registration fee includes a tent camp during the event. Do you want to come a week earlier, or fish a week after the event, will be a cost of SEK 300 per week.

Do you want to stay a bit more comfortable before, during or after the event, we offer comfortable bed cabins with kitchen, shower and toilet, TV with basic channels and wifi. Price per person is 200 SEK per bed and night. How the cabins look like you can see on the following youtube clip

 

Sport fishing and kayak fishing shop

Sport fishing and kayak fishing shops will be open. These are also the Event Centre. That means you can buy most things that you will need for your fishing.

 

Food

During the event offers large grill portions at good prices from eight o’clock in the evening when it gets barbeque at Viking Village (next to the camp). Otherwise there is a well stocked supermarket a few hundred meters south of the camp (on the Senoren island).
