Coosa Whitewater Festival Fishing Tournament by joshtidwell | Oct 7, 2014 | Fishing, Fishing Tournament | 0 comments You read that right! The Coosa River Whitewater Festival has been going on for many years. This year, thanks to Coosa Riverkeeper and their Coosa Canoe and Kayak Fishing Series, we kayak anglers were able to join the fun! It was a cool weekend with bonfires and live music Friday night, followed by fishing, freestyle, and just general river running on Saturday. The dual awards presentation Saturday night was quite spirited with the whitewater crowd winning the applause contest. Angler, we have to work on this! I launched just after dawn on Saturday and within an hour or so, had a couple of nice spotted bass on my virtual stringer. This took a lot of pressure off of me, and I was able to just enjoy the day on the river, helping some Coosa first-timers negotiate the many shoals and rapids. Somewhere along the way, I picked up another nice spot, which left me feeling pretty good about my chances. At lunch, we reached Moccasin Gap and sat on an island soaking in the sun, shooting the breeze, and watching the pros throw down in the hole. We also got to see the hole throw down a few as well, LOL. This goes down as one of my favorite tournament days, ever. Was it because of my finish/ You’ll just have to check the link and find out. http://coosariver.org/kft/?p=747 Submit a Comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
