What a difference a year makes by Scott Myers | Aug 8, 2017 | Fishing, Video | 0 comments My favorite thing to do this time of year is sight fish for redfish. Although it is very hot, the wind usually lays down a bit more in the summer, the grass gets thick, and the water gets clearer. At least, that’s the usual pattern. This year has been a little bit of a challenge in terms of finding good clean water and a break in the weather for sight fishing. It seems like we have had a lot more windy days, and quite a bit of rain. That could be subjective, but the clarity of the water and amount of redfish I’ve seen in my usual honey hole is definitely off. It’s a great reminder not to get lazy, and to seek out new grounds and hone techniques for when you can’t rely on your stand by spot. That’s fishing! The first video is from summer 2016, and the second video is from a couple weeks back. It might be hard to see in the video, but the water clarity was much better in 2016. In any case, I’m glad to have worked a lot on throwing weedless artificial lures over the past year – a couple of years back I would have been coming home with skunks, whereas I have been catching plenty of fish this year, if not the epic numbers from last year. – Scott Myers Submit a Comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
