Kilroy was here and still is… | Kayak Fishing by Daniel Ingram | Jul 10, 2020 | 2013 Kilroy, Fishing, JAdventures Main Banner, Kilroy, Kilroy DT, Kilroy HD | 0 comments I have been paddling a Jackson since 2012 and I have paddled all of the angler versions offered, but one has evidently captured my attention above the rest over the years. I had a Coosa but decided I needed to grow the fleet so I brought home an original Kilroy and it was that kayak that sealed the deal for me on that style. The first appeal for me was having functionality of a kayak but reminiscent of the canoes I grew up loving. Plenty of room for hunting ducks, fishing for the day or just going for a paddle. It cut through the water with very little effort, was very standup capable and was more maneuverable then I expected in some of the quicker waters I paddled. Not long after my wife and I found out we would be having a little one running around so I started looking for a tandem kayak and well Jackson just knew my needs and the Kilroy DT came out. I sold the original Kilroy and moved into the DT. I actually used it as a tournament fishing kayak the first year we had it but, when my daughter turned one, we decided it was time to get her in the yak. The DT had all the perks of the original Kilroy but tons more room. We could configure the front seat facing forward for my wife and daughter to sit, or we could turn it facing me and so my daughter could run between us. We have had the Kilroy DT in many states and waters and it has performed amazingly! Now moving forward to now when the Kilroy HD was released, I knew that it wouldn’t be long before I had to have one. I figured it would be good for solo hunting, fishing and paddling trips but, also thought that it would be perfect for my now four-year-old and an adult to go paddling without having to pull the DT out. After one trip my thoughts were confirmed and I absolutely can say that the new HD is another huge win. I really like all the track from bow to stern and I also love the flat rigging areas on the bow and stern. Its evident to me that this is going to be heavily used as one of my primary yaks. If you are looking for a kayak that tracks, maneuvers and stable look no further especially if a hybrid sit inside is your flavor. Perfect for taking the kids, fur babies out or a solo fishing paddling trip. Submit a Comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
