Russell Fork Zen 3.0

Had a great time paddling the Russell Fork last weekend, and my husband Daniel and I both got to try out our new Zen 3s! The Russell Fork is located on the Virginia/Kentucky border, with the put-in and most of the rapids in Virginia, and the take-out in Kentucky. It’s a dam released section on weekends in October. There’s 3 sections. The Upper is class 3, the Gorge is class 4-5, and the Lower is class 2.

With the help of grandparents to watch our baby, Daniel and I took turns doing Gorge laps and even got to paddle twice together. A rare treat for us these days!

It was a great section to try out our new Z3s. The river flows at just under 1000 cfs and is full of eddy turns, holes, and boofs. The boat did great!
