Year Round Boating on Idaho’s North Fork by Devon Barker | Mar 18, 2011 | Whitewater | 0 comments It is still snowing in Idaho but the rivers are running. I always tell people that we have year round boating but I am not sure I ever mentioned how we get to the river. We do get a lot of snow but the rivers still run. A few times throughout the winter the river will freeze over or be too slushy to paddle but for the most part you can count on surfing on the Salmon River or running the North Fork of the Payette. Craig, Shane, Alec & Mike Voorhees, and I ran the middle section of the North Fork just a few days ago. We were lucky enough to slide our brand new 2011 Heroes right into the water. (To see the launches check out the video link. http://vimeo.com/user4939614/videos) We all had super fun launches and a warm day of boating. There was steam coming off of all of us as we paddled through the rapids. We were toasty warm and happy to be on the water.
