Fishing on the Comal by Robert Matthews | Mar 23, 2011 | Coosa | 0 comments Met up with another Jackson Kayak Fishing Team member Brady today. He was in town for the weekend and looking for a river to cross off the list. We fished the Comal and the Guadalupe river in New Braunfels. Weather was overcast and nice with some wind blowing. I guess the full moon and lack of flow had the bite pretty slow most of the day. I caught 5 or 6 on a Texas rigged worm. This was enough for Brady to switch to one and he was soon on fish as well. Traveling back I stuck the nose of the kayak in some current to cut across to some shallow rocks so that I could get out and line it up through the rapids. Within seconds I was bathing and fighting to gather all of my gear. Lost one rod and recovered everything else. Man was I glad that I had my Onyx PFD on. The water was cold and fast and it kept me stable enough to gather up and get to an area that I could stand. Thanks for coming down to fish Brady and for going snorkeling to try and find the rod and reel. Enjoyed spending the day with you.
