Good Friday Floating by Matthew Lofton | Apr 26, 2011 | Coosa, Fishing, Fly Fishing | 0 comments Easter is one of my favorite holidays. It’s an incredible time to mix together reflection from the past and vision for the future. A holiday that leaves you in awe. My wife and I chose Birmingham, Alabama as our Easter destination this year, allowing a chance for me to fish Good Friday with two buddies of mine. Last year’s good friday float was remarkable and we couldn’t wait to see what this year had in store. Around 6:00 a.m., we made it to a favorite creek of ours with high hopes. The water was stunning. It was slightly murky and up just a tad. Here’s a peak. It didn’t take long for us to realize fish were stacked in the swift water and more than willing to eat. Here’s my friend Hays and I showing off a “double” we caught out of the same pocket. Sometime after noon we hit payday. Hays got a nice 3lb 7oz spotted bass and mine was on the way as well. After running a nice rapid, I spun my Coosa around and cast back in the froth. With only 5 feet of line out, she hit right at the boat. All I could do was hang on! 3lb 15oz spotted bass! Can’t ask for a better weekend. Running rapids in the Coosa, catching great fish, and spending a great holiday with friends. By the way, if you’re wondering, we’re already planning good friday 2012!
