U of Idaho Whitewater Majors by Will Richardson | Apr 9, 2009 | Heros, Whitewater | 0 comments April 1, 2009 Photos By Devon Barker This weekend I taught Women in Whitewater Extravaganza clinic with Senior Heidi Ando at University of Idaho. Heidi is majoring in Outdoor Recreation and as her senior project she held a two day clinic for women in whitewater. She did a great job and had 16 participants, 4 volunteers, and many sponsors. Northwest River Supplies supported the clinic with great paddling goodies. We also had lots of JK kayaks provided by the university’s Outdoor Program thanks to the great support from Mike Beiser. We finished the clinic by attending another recreation major’s senior project, a run and kayak race combo. Erin Clancy and I were a team. Erin ran and I paddled my Hero as fast as I could go. For each aluminum can Erin picked up I got 5 seconds taken off my down river time. At the tag line, Erin dumped the cans into my cockpit, I snapped my skirt and we were off to the finish line. Erin and I , Team NRS, won the team race and Heidi Ando won the solo division. My congrats to Heidi and Kyle for their innovate approaches to getting us all out to the river!
