Hey there All;

I am having a great time in Tibet.

I am kayaking with Mariann Seather, Tyler Curtis and an great crew. We spent a few day acclimating in the city of Lhasa where we got to explore the old winter palace of the 5th through 14th Dalai Lamas and see the Monks debate at the Sera Monastary.

After we acclimated in Lhasa at 12,000 feet we headed East to run several river, The Kong Chu, which was a fun class four warm up run, the Tong Chu is a higher volumne river with two sections on it, the lower was a super fun continous class three through five with the upper section be a bit lower volumne but a bit tougher run. Our shuttle to the upper run was a dump truck ride for just over an hour.

We are now camping in the Sumzum Chu Valley. The Sumzum Chu is a short but very continous class three through five creek with views that take your breath away.
We had a fare bit of rain for a few days but the weather has cleared for us but that has not stopped it from being very cold. We awoke yesterday with snow only a couple of hundred feet above us and a very brisk wind blowing up stream.

Today we ran a section of the Parlung Tsang po and tomorrow we will be moving camp upstream on the Parlung to start running the upper stretches. The river has alot to offer and we are all looking forward to the whitewater action.

We are all getting used to the alltitude but it is definatly harder to keep the energy level high and the body takes a bit longer to recover. We are all having a great time and I will keep you updated as much as I can out in this part of the world.

Phil B.
