More April tournaments by Jason Cassetty | Jun 8, 2023 | Featured Post, Fishing, Fishing Feature, jacksonkayak.com, JAdventures Main Banner, Tournaments | 0 comments Well it’s been a couple of crazy weeks for me personally but we’ll save that for another day. Let’s catch up on some USA Bassin / Jackson Kayak Trail action. Looking back a couple of weeks ago we had 6 scheduled tournaments set to set sail and we bugin in Virginia on Claytor Lake. This was their first tournament and all 3 species (lg mouth, smallies, and spotted bass) made an appearance on the TourneyX leaderboard! When all the scoring was done it was Jacob Morrison topping Michael Turpin by just 2”’s! That same margin was also the difference in Big Bass that Morrison took as well. From there we look northward to the Conowingo stretch of the Susky! The famed waterway was the stage for a tight race with the top 3 being separated by just 3”’s! Victor Hendrix’s Big Bass bested Mickey Pfortsch largest fish by 2.25” and that would prove to be the difference between 2nd and 3rd but it’s was Matt Campbell who put a solid limit in his Jackson Knarr to take the win by a slim .75”! We then head to the MidWest and the Hoosier State. Indiana has an extensive history for tough fishing and round 1 on Lake Monroe would only further support that. The lake was way out its bank’s putting water into the parking lots of most ramps. This can be a good thing unless the army corps of engineers pulls the bottom out! Sure enough that’s precisely what they did and it left our field of anglers scrambling to track down the bass. At the end of the day no fish were caught and that money will roll over to the next event scheduled for May 13th! If you missed the first event this would be the perfect time to jump in and grab some extra money and valuable AOY points! Slow fishing continued as we venture west bound into Oklahoma. The opener in Spavinaw may not have had numbers but size was definitely up for grabs! Preston Griner found a 7# 21” largemouth to take big bass and beat out Hunter Williams for the win! Sunday the 16th we start on Stockton Lake in Missouri. Just after lunch it looked like Troy Enke was the run away winner when he uploaded his limit to the TourneyX.com but Shawn Priest had the last word when he uploaded his winning stringer anchored by Big Bass of 18” after the leaderboard went dark. Patrick Troutman, Stacy Jordan and Frank Miller round out the top 5. Our final stop for the week went down on El Dorado Lake in Kansas. Tough fishing was the name of the game but someone always catches em’! That someone was Justin Maples who took the win and big bass over runner up Caleb Ramsey. We have a ton of opportunities to fish with us coming up in May! Check out usabassin.com, our Facebook page or tourneyx for events near you!
