Keeners run the 7 Sisters of the Rouge River! by Will Richardson | Jan 1, 1970 | Rockers, Whitewater | 0 comments August 20, 2007 By Stephen Wright Photos After weeks of on-water prep time, the Keeners packed-up for a long day trip on the Rouge River in Quebec this past Thursday. This made for a first creeking experience for most of our students, and the 7 Sisters section of the Rouge was perfect! The trip was led by Clay Wright, Joel Kowalski, Jeremy Laucks, and some jerk named Stephen. How many kids get to claim that their first creeking experience was led by Clay Wright??? The 7 Sisters run is only about 1/2 a mile, but has 6 substantial drops of high-volume waterfalls ranging from 7 to 14 feet high. We spent more than 4 hours running these drops–we spent most of the time discussing safety, scouting, lines, and analysis of water. It was a great learning experience for all of us and we were able to have 7 students run all the drops, with the rest running at least 2 or 3 of them. Billy Harris was kind enough to loan us 2 Rockers, a Mega, and a Punk for students to try-out. All the kids loved them! Enjoy the pics!
