Mission: Lost in the woods and Project: Jackson North by Will Richardson | May 19, 2007 | Rockers, Whitewater | 0 comments By Billy Harris Well as most of you might have heard, I almost didn’t make it for the Finals. I showed up after warm up rides in my jeans again. Jumped in to the first of 2 rides pretty much freaked out. Second ride was better but not much. I guess that I have to make the team again and get my world championship title in Switzerland now. That’s fine with me. Tough. However little Nick Troutman, and the jacksons were awesome. Nice job kiddies, and you too Eric for and old guy, he’z OK. However I am not sure how I feel about loosing to Eric again. After worlds I was presented with a “Rocker” by EJ and was told to go huck my meat. Where better to start than right here at home. Well in true Billy Harris style I had to find something that never was run before. Boy did that not work out. Me and the good ol’boys are a bit nuts following Brent Cooper into the woods at all. Don’t worry 2 hours we’ll be there. But of course 9 hours of driving back roads we get a flat tire, out comes the jack. It was broken. A broken jack, how that happens is beyond me but there you have it. So we use a rock and a log and “manually lift the 07 commander into the air”. We get the spare on at last, and you know what, yes you do…… flat spare. Who puts a flat spare on the spare, (I’m getting the why me’s). In the mean time someone noticed the broken rack and the subsequently dented roof. I managed to use a bulk head screw from a kayak to plug the hole on the original tire to slow down the leak and it worked pretty well too. Right up till we tried to inflate it, and you know what wasn’t working don’t you…. You guessed it, the air pump. 15 pounds we figured it was putting out. So in our haste we also managed to puncture and dent the rim. Then Came the Road issue, the road ended in a huge ditch, we had to build a bridge, yep that’s right a bridge….. long epic, digging with pieces of wood I tell ya. We got to the put in all right, just in time to sleep in the woods. What would have normally taken us 2 hours by road took 9 hours by skidoo trail, why you ask would we take the skidoo trail. “it’s a short cut, just trust me I lived up here all my life” note to others, when you hear that, expect an epic. The Place we stayed at was amazing, the guy that owned the place had an old Willys jeep, I made a point of driving around in it. I loved it. Here are some photos of the trip into the woods. Back to the Ottawa River, the beautiful right side and Corner wave out and spoiling us.
