The next stop on the World Cup Championship series is the Pigeon River in Tennessee, 3 hours towards the east of Rock Island just out of the way of the approaching hurricane!  Hosted at the incredible NOC camp, this venue is awesome in its convenience.  The feature is a very retentive hole that allows for the entire list of advanced moves, combinations and HUGE air lending this event to be very different from Rock Island in its challenges.  The NOC team had their scoring system set up and manned with even more bells and whistles, and just in time too… this event will be very difficult to score as the judges and scribes have to be on it to record the numbers.  They guys added a new score viewer so that we can see standings etc. adding yet another element to freestyle audience experience.  Awesome!

On to the event!  The names were all the same but the feel was very different.  11 heats went off without a hitch like clockwork and after Rock Island, the competition was hot and heavy.  The early heats had some of the bigger names, EJ starting out, Dane soon after, last events winner Peter Csonka in the first half all set the bar high.  Dane and Joaquim led the way with EJ in third through the first few rounds as the flurries of technically perfect godzillas, phonics monkey’s, splits, loops and more fed the computer system with individual scores well over 1000!  Dane set the combined bar with 2476 points and Fontane of Spain (Catalonia) held second with some incredibly fast moves and a combined 1942.  EJ was in third for a good bit of time with 1200 points… but was soon pushed well down at the arrival of Peter, World Champ James Bebbington, Tomasz of poland and Troutman from Canada to name a few.  Csonka of Slovakia stole the show again with an outstanding combined score of 2588!

Good go team JK!
