Jackson Kayak Karma

It’s official. Spring is here! Our meager snow pack has started melting. But it’s hard to be upset by the low snow pack when some of the great spring runs start to come in! I spent this past weekend on Devil’s Canyon of the Middle Feather, which meant my first overnighter of the season, and my first overnighter in the karma.
Overall it was a fantastic weekend. Great flow, beautiful scenery and lots of friends. The trip started with just three of us, but only about two hours in we caught up with some friends in a group of five and ended up paddling together the rest of the way. They knew the run better than we did and saved us some time scouting by giving us beta for the drops!

Jackson Kayak Karma

The karma did great as a loaded boat. Since I started paddling it a few months ago, I’ve noticed that it likes speed and needs to be going faster than the speed of the water to act it’s best. This is how most boats react when loaded, so boating a loaded karma has hardly any learning curve.
Hope everyone else is ready for spring and a great 2013 season! ~Diane Gaydos
