Jackson Kayak makes World Championships Debut with a bang!

Today was a great first day for the Jackson Kayak brand
in its first World Championships! In the men’s kayak class we had
three out of 5 of the paddlers (out of the 80 total) make the top 20 cut.
The only one not making it was Yagi from Japan and Petr from Czech in
a disappointing round, not able to show their stuff when it counted, but
everybody got to see what they could do in practice.

Japan’s Manabu Kako qualified with some nice
rides as well.

How cool is that, having two of the top three spots
in the opening rounds be Jackson Kayak boats!

Junior Men’s Kayak

We had five junior men competing in Jackson Kayak boats

Dane Jackson who had a great first run, but didn’t
get it together on his second run, was 18th, with only 10 qualifying for
the next round. Dane was the only paddler small enough to fit a Fun
1 in the competition.

Rafael Oritz from Mexico, also a Keener in the www.ottawakayak.com
teen program on the Ottawa River. Rafael was trying to go big and just
didn’t get the big moves he was shooting for like his entry move
and big loops he was showing us during practice.

Lawrence Simpson from New Zealand. Lawrence just couldn’t
get his ride to go, but we saw him dominate the west coast rodeos this
past spring and know he was just a little off in this competition. We
will see Lawrence in the senior class next year at the Ottawa, and he
is great on waves!

Our two paddlers in the top 10 were:

Jake Farragher placing
5th in his All-Star from Australia

Kazuki Yazawa from Japan
placing 6th in his Yellow Star
and getting the biggest loop of the day in the junior class!

Congratulations to the Jackson Kayak paddlers moving
on to the next round after day one!

Kazuki, Jake, Manabu, Tobias, and EJ are all alive
and well in the competition to compete another day!

Thanks to our Jackson Kayak paddlers who tried hard,
had the skills, but fell short on making the cut:

Petr Prause, Yagi Tatsuya, Rafael Oritz, Lawrence Simpson,
and Dane Jackson We know you have the skills and are proud to watch you
paddle your Jackson Kayak boats!
