Jackson Kayak’s Big Rig, the ultimate fishing platform. by Roberto Briones | Oct 13, 2014 | Featured Post, Fishing, JK Team Posts | 4 comments Just a few weeks ago I had the opportunity to put my Desert Camo Jackson Kayak Big Rig through its paces fishing Lake Travers and a portion of the Petawawa River in beautiful Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada looking for Musky. The adventure was 5 days long so I needed to bring with me my fishing gear, clothes and camping gear for the duration of the trip and, believe me, I was able to fit everything inside the hull and then some. Let me tell you something: this is the most comparable setup to a bass boat. And I mean this from a stability point of view. You can stand up on this kayak and it feels just like you’re fishing off a casting deck. At 6’3″ tall -having an off center of balance- I feel as secure fishing from my Big Rig as I did when I used to fish tournaments from my old 20′ bass boat. I can even stand up on the elite seat in the Hi position, in high current, anchored with my 8′ ParknPole from YakAttack. Paddling this boat is such a joy. I like the fact that you start a bit slow, but once you gain momentum, the Big Rig just glides through water. It is by no means a fast boat, but a sturdy stable and a head-turning boat. Cant wait to get my big/rig an get on the water has taken me over a year of going over some of the different yak’s when I came across JK’s big rig I was sold, my mouth is watering to get my hands on one. I upgraded to a Kilroy in Aug and love it. Use it for yard fishing.
