Jackson Kayak is slashing $200 off the retail price of its Shooting Star and Sidekick models of kid-sized whitewater kayaks in its campaign to focus on getting more kids kayaking in 2010. Through the month of May, Jackson’s pint-sized playboats and river runners will sell for $499 instead of $699. The Jackson clan could be the poster family for the campaign to eradicate “nature deficit disorder” a term Children and Nature Network founder Richard Louv coined as in his best-selling book, “Last Child in the Woods.” Jackson Kayak has other products to encourage kids and families to get into paddling.
