No Skirt Mass Start Race great for laughs!

Take 30 kayakers and put their boats at the riverside,
then have a
LeMand Start with a run across the field jump in and paddle the whole
course
with no skirt and you have the "Gift" race as they call it with
$500 euros
for first prize. Dane had the junior men’s spot and has tons of experience
paddling with no skirt anyway. The start was full of people trying to
fill
each other up early and by the second set of waves there were already
swimmers and people carping to try to get a breath since they were sinking
below their heads. Dane held back in the beginning, being afraid of all
of
the flying paddle blades, but managed to go from about dead last to 7th
at
the end making most of his passes in the second half. Jez took a Dancer
down and caught every eddy along the way, Great fun to watch!
