Camp Arrowhead by Will Richardson | Jun 20, 2005 | Uncategorized | 0 comments June 20, 2005 Photos Hi mate jez here. Thought you would like this for your website. Our camp, NC, recently received our boats and this caused quite a stir. All the campers wanted to try out the new boats but not as much as the paddling staff. With that shiny new plastic smell looming and a lake just waiting for their fist touch of water, the paddling staff took the All Star for a test. We have been boating in Space Cadets, EZ, and Attacks but as soon as we got in that All Star the entire paddling staff was converted. It was like the light went on for the first time ever, weighs next to nothing, comfortable, easy to use and light all in one package. We "tested" the All Star out for a while throwing ends better than ever but thought that we should finally get the campers into these boats too. The Bracing and Rolling DVD has become a huge part of our program here. Campers find it very easy to follow and learn from. Kids who have never been in a boat before now have the skills to adequately brace, in fact just the other day a kid watched your DVD and with some assistance from the paddling staff got in a boat and nailed his roll on the same day. Here’s what Daniel, one of our paddling staff had to say about the All Star. "Although I am not an avid playboater and have not paddled a wide variety of playboats, I thoroughly enjoy paddling the All Star and am much more comfortable throwing ends in it than in most other boats I’ve paddled. I was surprised at how fast it is; most small playboats seem much slower. Weight and volume distribution are wonderful." With all the rain that has hit the South East, we took these boats for their first run and hit up a section of Rock Creek NC, a tributary to the Green that flows only a few times a year. The boats performed amazingly well, and the kids were so happy to take a JK on its virgin run. Next we hit up the lower green. The look on other groups faces was enough to tell what they were thinking when they saw our shinny new Jackson Kayaks. Having these boats have created a bit of a problem though, all our paddling kids fight over getting on the river with these boats. Your boats and DVD have definitely made a difference in a young child’s life. Thanks again E.J. for helping kids get into the most amazing and dynamic sport around. jez Submit a Comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
