I have tried to keep the Ricochet on the DL but I can’t
hold it in any more! What happens when David Knight and EJ work really,
really hard on a slalom boat? I know the answer to that question, but
I will leave the reviews of it up to you to decide!

As for what kind of craftsmanship will come out of
North America’s slalom factory, it all starts with the plug. Larry
has taken it down to a glass polish already and the mold is now underway.
The mold may take a full month to make but listen to what it will do…

1. After vacuum bagging the deck and hull, in a steel
framed, foam core, 19 layer glass smooth mold we will …

2. flip the deck over on the hull mold while they are
still green and vacuum bag the seams in the boat will the boat is still
in the mold, making a perfectly shaped boat with seams that are as good
as it gets.

The International carbon layup, coming in at $1950
retail will compete in price to the Czech imports. The National Kevlar/Glass
layup will be only $1595.

Look for Emily, Dane, and I zipping around in the Ricochet
later this fall as I teach my kids how to paddle a slalom kayak, and relearn
it myself (hopefully create my own new techniques, before I get sucked
into the accepted techniques of today, which means reinventing the wheel
mostly, but I like to learn from a progression of things I figure out
myself, instead of assuming what I am told is correct. Yes, much of what
people tell me will be correct.)

Any how, check out the photos.

EJ 🙂
