By Stephen Wright. Learn more about Stephen.

After a great weekend at the American River and Golden Gate, I headed to
Reno to begin training for the upcoming event. Jay Kincaid and Lisa
Beckstead have been kind enough to let me stay with them for a few weeks
while I’m here, which is SO nice of them! Black Dog can play with Jay’s 2
dogs (Porter and Cash), and the whitewater park is only 5 minutes away.

It’s great to paddle with Jay every day–he’s definitely ripping these spots
up and pushes me to work things that need it. I’ve also gotten to paddle
with local phenom Jason Craig, who’s Dane’s age and RIPS in his Fun 1. The
Comp hole is a big flushy, as the water is high, but still a good time, but
the main show is the Wave at the bottom of the course–number 5! It’s a
GREAT wave where we’re working clean blunts, flashbacks, flip-turns/helixes,
donkey flips, loops, all blunts, mcnasty’s, and everything else we can
think-of. The weather’s in the upper 70’s and sunny. There’s an awesome
coffee shop right next to the park (Java Jungle) with free wifi
access…What a GREAT place to be!!! Enjoy the pics!
