Pikey is quite the character, if you haven’t met him. Outward and friendly, funny as can be, and ready to help at any time. He is a super fun person to paddle with, and will be head coach at Nottingham whitewater Park in England where he’ll add a lot to that program. I am proud to have him working along side of Aaron and John Best in making Jackson Kayak everything it can be in the UK! Here is what Pikey has to say about Pikey and JK…

Who’s Pikey?
I’m a British boater that’s been paddling for 6 years, brought up paddling the River Thames and its weirs, I’ve done and love every aspect of paddle sports, I’m just the guy out on the water having a blast with a big smile.

How kayaking has affected my life:
I found kayak to be a turning point in my life, I found something I liked and I focused on it. It’s now an addiction, one which I hope to get everyone else addicted to.

I’ve now been a kayak coach since the age of 16, working for Longridge Scout Boating Centre for 3 summers I’ve picked up my BCU level3 trainee in Kayaking. Becoming a coach was a big part of my life; I now have the skill and opportunity to pass on what I have learned through kayaking, it’s not just the physical side of kayaking I love but also the social side. Kayaking is such a close community one which I’m glad to be apart of. People learn not only how to respect one another but also the environment.

My goals in life are to improve not only my boating skills but the boating skills of the people around me. To share special moments amongst new friends in different parts of the world and for those new moments to never stop happening, I’m hope to spread the word of how great this sport is and how easy it is for anyone of any age or ability to get involved.

I plan on reaching my goals via my coaching and my own personal traveling experiences.
Weather it be teaching children on the flat or taking kayakers over seas to run whitewater.

Plus I want to improve my reputation of being a crazy guy and run some wicked waterfalls and rivers around the world along with pushing my freestyle abilities to there max within competitions.

Accomplishments:

  • I’ve Managed to complete a 125mile race known as Devises to Westmister in 19h39min19secs in K1 at the youngest age of 18yrs old. After a year of training you get a great feeling of accomplishment.
  • 34th senior men World Cup Freestyle 2006
  • Jackson kayak Boater-cross Champion 2006 BeatingClay Wright, EJ and Jay Kincaid in the Final.
  • Running Gorilla on the Green with it being my 5th waterfall ever.
  • Joining the JK team.
