Today was a mix of sun, clouds, rain, loud music, Hobie on the Microphone, and lots of great paddling. Today was the prelims that cut the field down to 25% of the starting list for tomorrows semi-finals and finals. Some highlights include a women’s 5 person final lineup that includes women from 5 countries! Australia, England, USA, Canada, and Norway, sweet! There was clearly no dominating country in the women’s class today. What country will win tomorrow?

The juniors paddled really well today, and the senior men had a mix of conservative and overly aggressive rides, along with some well executed ones. Tonight is the “losers party” as it is affectionately named because typically the 75% of the paddlers that don’t get to compete tomorrow go pretty big at the losers party. The headliner band tonight is Tommy Gunn and the Endangered Species Band. If you have watched the EJ series of instructional videos you have heard Tommy Gunn music. There is also a band that is a lot like Earth, Wind, and Fire that will get people on their feet dancing tonight for sure.

Here is the complete results list from today’s Prelims– compliments of Kristine Jackson scoring, with Shane Benedict as head judge!
