I’d been surfing MiniBus most of the week; that is with the exception of the necessary rest: the tow rope is an exceptional way to get on the wave (allowing you to stay warm in your boat instead of having to walk up) but it really can do a number on your arm. When Stephen Wright showed up with the new 2Fun I was ready to roll. The level was considered a little on the low side ie more hole less wave, but a new boat became serious motivation to brave the wave.

The speed of the boat shocked me as I raced out to the wave at a pace I had not yet experienced. This boat was fast! And I hadn’t even got on the wave yet! Dropping into the pit I realized I would be riding a bull. The 2Fun as my trusty companion, we went up and down, over and around, we worked the wave from shoulder to shoulder. Carving here, sliding there and then I felt it. The feeling you get at the top of the wave, it builds and the green face is smiling back at you. I launched on this pass and WOW. First surf, first wave – 2 FUN FOR SURE!

Over and over I lined up and surfed out and each time I was more and more impressed by the control of the boat. In the end I even overlooked the time and didn’t work the rope (sorry guys). I was having a blast in the new 2Fun.

Big thanks to Stephen who let me christen his new boat. And big thanks to the boys in the eddy for letting me get away with no rope duty – don’t worry boys I’ll get you back next time.
